Zacchaeus Climbs a Sycamore Tree
Luke 19:1-10
As Jesus was passing by Jericho, a chief tax collector named Zacchaeus heard about him and wanted to see who he was.
However, Zacchaeus was a short man and he had no way of getting through the crowd. So he climbed up a tall sycamore tree to see him.
When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to Zacchaeus, “Come down quickly. I want to stay at your house tonight.”
Zacchaeus got down from the tree and happily welcomed him into his house.
When the people saw this, they complained, “He has gone into the house of a sinner.”
Zacchaeus stood up and said, “Lord, I will give half of my possessions to the poor and pay back whoever I cheated four times the amount.”
Jesus said to him, “Today, salvation has come to this house for the Son of Man comes to seek and find the lost.”
