Moses Raises Up a Bronze Snake
As the Israelites traveled along the path toward the Red Sea around Edom, they grew restless and grumbled against Moses, “Why did you bring us out of Egypt so that we can die in the desert? There is nothing to eat or drink here. The only food we have is manna and we are tired of eating it everyday.”
God was enraged and he made poisonous snakes to come out in the desert to bite the Israelites.
The Israelites came to Moses and said, “We have sinned against the Lord. Please pray to the Lord to take away these poisonous snakes from us.”
God said to Moses, “Make a snake from brass and hang it on a pole so that the people can see it and be healed.”
Moses obeyed the Lord and made a bronze snake and hung it on a pole.
All the Israelites that were bitten by the poisonous snake looked at the bronze snake that Moses made and they were instantaneously healed.
